Skin Whiteners are fairly new in the field of cosmetics, but they can effectively even out layers of the skin that have over pigmentation. Previous skincare products focused on preventing the signs of aging, but now the focus is on how to gain a luminous, even complexion. Brightening the skin is now a popular method and it can be obtained through use of one of the many over-the-counter skincare products or by visiting a professional dermatologist.
Lisa VanBockern, owner of Skin Script Products acknowledges that most of the skin whitening creams bought over-the-counter contain low levels of ingredients. Previously, these products were known as skin whitening or bleaching products, but skin brightening sounds much more appealing. John Di Saia MD, director and plastic surgeon at OC Body.com states that the bleaching cream market has altered, as the Food and Drug Administration began to investigate the common ingredient hydroquinone, which has been found in over the counter and prescription products. Hydroquinone is a possible contributor to cancer, and caused concern amongst the public.
Use ingredients In Skin Brightening Products
Effective skin brightening products also contain antioxidants and vitamins. Professional laser treatments are far less evasive than skin bleaching products containing chemicals, but there are also home laser treatment like the Starlite.
The difference in skin brightening products is how they do not contain the harsh chemicals found in skin whiteners. “There is no single formula, although bleaching creams are similar to the skin brighteners used today,” added Dr Di Saia, a board-certified dermatologist. However, there is no agreement in the skincare industry stating skin brighteners are the new skin whiteners.
How Do Skin Brightening Products Improve The Skin?
Skin brighteners can improve the skin in a number of ways. Many of them contain light reflective particles, which improve the look of the skin’s surface, whilst skin tone improves through skin cell regeneration and an increase in blood flow. Skin whiteners reduce the activity of overactive pigmentation and achieve more of an overall even tone across the skin. Skin de-pigmentors primarily focus on abnormal pigmentation cells by reducing inflammation and blocking ultraviolet rays through its sunscreen component.
Both skin brighteners and skin whitening products may sound similar, but they are very different products. The first step in choosing an effective product is to clarify exactly how you want to improve the look of your skin. If you have darker pigmentation on specific areas, choose a skin lighteners, but if you have an uneven complexion, choose a skin brightener.
